She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the City College of New York and brings a strong academic foundation and a heartfelt commitment to her work with clients.
Estefania is deeply passionate about trauma-focused care, with a special interest in supporting individuals affected by domestic violence. Her approach is rooted in empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a trauma-informed framework. She is dedicated to helping survivors rebuild their sense of safety, reclaim their identity, and move toward empowerment and healing.

Silvia Kaunas is the founder and director of SK Mental Health Counseling Services PLLC. She is a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Mental Health Counselor in New York, New Jersey, and Florida, and a Clinical Psychologist trained in South America. With over two decades of experience, Ms. Kaunas is dedicated to providing high-quality psychological care and specializes in working with individuals affected by a wide range of mental health disorders.
In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Kaunas is also the President of a nonprofit organization “Manos Solidarias, Inc” based in the United States, a role that reflects her deep commitment to community service. Through this organization, she supports individuals living in extreme poverty in rural areas of her native country, Ecuador, providing critical resources and assistance to underserved populations. Her work exemplifies a lifelong dedication to social justice, mental health advocacy, and cross-cultural support for vulnerable communities.
Ms. Kaunas earned her Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling from Touro College and University System and holds a degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Guayaquil. She is also a certified hypnotherapist through the National Guild of Hypnotists. In addition to her clinical work, she is actively engaged in doctoral research examining the psychological impact of abuse and trauma, with a particular focus on immigrant populations in the United States.
